Who Torklio is for

Torklio is aimed at businesses that schedule jobs and serve customers in person: trades, home services, auto shops, clinics and local professional firms. If your phone's purpose is to turn a caller into a booked appointment or a graded lead, that is the workflow Torklio is designed around. If you need a human receptionist to physically take over calls, or you want to write your own voice agent from scratch, other providers in our ranking fit better.

What we verified

We checked Torklio's public pricing page on September 7, 2026. Plans start at $99/month (Starter, 300 included call minutes, one phone number, two team members), with Plus at $149 (600 minutes) and Pro at $249 (1,000 minutes). A quote-based Growth plan lists 3,000 minutes, three numbers and five locations. Every plan includes a 7-day free trial and a 30-day money-back guarantee on the first payment, billed month-to-month with no annual contract.

The pricing table states that phone answering, website chat, qualification and grading, summaries, transcripts, screened transfers and one customer history are included on every plan; the plans differ by limits such as minutes, numbers, seats, knowledge-base size and recording retention. Calendar booking is Google Calendar on Starter and Google plus Outlook on Plus and above. Text messaging is marked 'Coming soon' on every tier.

Answering and qualification

Torklio answers around the clock and grades each caller. In practice that means the owner sees which calls were a new job, a price shopper, an existing customer or a vendor, instead of a flat list of voicemails. The knowledge base lets you load service descriptions, hours and policies so the receptionist answers common questions without inventing a price. Knowledge-base limits scale with the plan (5 sources / 20 documents on Starter up to 50 / 500 on Growth).

Booking

Booking is the part of Torklio we weight most heavily for service businesses. The system checks availability against the connected calendar and only confirms a time after the write succeeds, which is the behavior that stops double-bookings and ghost appointments. Calendar support is Google on the entry plan and Google or Outlook on higher plans.

Transfers and human involvement

Torklio screens calls and transfers the ones that matter to your own team members. This is different from Smith.ai's model, where a third-party human receptionist can take the call. If your business needs a person on every escalation regardless of whether your staff are free, Torklio's approach requires that your team actually pick up.

Web chat and customer history

Website chat is included on every plan and shares the same customer record as the phone. A caller who chatted last week and phones today is recognized as the same person. For businesses that get leads from both channels, that single history is a meaningful operational advantage.

How the price compares

With every competitor's pricing page now checked (September 7, 2026), Torklio's $99 Starter sits in the middle of the packaged tier. Dialzara starts at $29 for 60 minutes with a published $0.48/minute overage, and Rosie starts at $49 for 250 minutes of message-taking, though Rosie's direct booking and transfers arrive only on its $149 Scale plan. Goodcall's $79 per-agent Starter includes unlimited minutes but caps unique customers at 100 a month and keeps call details for only 7 days. Smith.ai's AI-first plans start at $300 for 30 calls. Torklio's 300 minutes at $99 is competitive on minutes, but the absence of a published overage rate is a real gap next to Dialzara and Frontdesk, which both print theirs.

What we could not verify

• Overage rates: the pricing page says usage allowances and overages apply but does not state a per-minute figure.
• Third-party CRM connectors beyond the built-in customer history.
• Multi-language support and outbound calling.
• A public developer API.

Lab testing status

Torklio has not yet completed the 10-call challenge. Its test page on AI Phone Test Lab shows clearly labeled sample data. We will publish a numeric score only when the recordings exist.
